Logan Memorial Hospital is now affiliated with St. Thomas Health Services to become a certified Chest Pain Network Center.

Russellville, Kentucky – Over the next few months, we will develop processes to meet the stringent criteria to be a Certified Chest Pain Center by The Society of Chest Pain Centers. This will be a lengthy journey that will require hospital-wide participation. Internal changes will be made, as well as collaborative efforts with local Emergency Medical Services, public officials, media outlets and businesses to both educate the community and raise cardiac risk awareness.

By mid-summer Logan Memorial will submit an application to the Society of Chest Pain Centers and schedule an onsite survey to determine if the facility will become accredited.

The accreditation process evaluates 8 key elements:

  • Emergency Department Integration with the EMS
  • Emergency Assessment of patients with Symptoms of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
  • Assessment of Patients with Low Risk for ACS and No Assignable Cause for Their Symptoms Process
  • Improvement
  • Personnel, Competencies, and Training
  • Organizational Structure and Commitment
  • Functional Facility Design
  • Community Outreach<
> “Logan Memorial Hospital is excited to partner with St. Thomas on this important project. This will mean the community of Logan County and surrounding areas will be offered a more comprehensive approach to treating cardiac patients. This continuity of care and the ability to quickly transfer patients requiring full-service cardiac surgical capability is tremendous,” said William Haugh, Chief Executive Officer of Logan Memorial Hospital.
